Best Kids' Parties: Orange & Pink Party

Clara's First Birthday was a blast! We were so happy to celebrate Clara's first big year with our closest family and friends. We didn't have a theme for the party, but I stuck to a color scheme of coral, oranges and pinks in all shades with a touch of gold.

Invitations are always a good jumping off point for color and design scheme.
I made the invitation in Gimp using a watercolor texture I found online. I layered white text over top and printed on pink card stock. Once printed I used Martha Stewart Glue and Glitter around the #1 to give it that sparkle factor.

I made a large gold #1 for the front door by cutting out heavy weight board spray painted gold and glittered.

We served ice coffee, iced tea, and strawberry lemonade. Ball canning jars and paper straws with flags for names. I made strawberry red velvet shortcake. It was tasty and it was EASY. But mostly it got a lot of oohs and aahs.

I think this gold Clara cake topper on top of the dulce de leche cake was my favorite element. I printed on cardstock, cut it out with an X-acto knife and painted it gold. Then I painted gold skewers and glued them on.

A big thanks goes out to all the helpful family and friends contributed, particularly my mother and mother-in-law. My sister made the tissue poms and birthday bunting. And most of all, all the friends and family who attended to celebrate with Clara. They made the event so special.

Thanks, Emily! Readers, visit Emily at Bulldogs & Babies.
