Rock out, little Lucy! Jennie and Frank share this party for their little rockstar:
Our little Lucy goes absolutely nuts when she hears Mötley Crüe, so we figured it was only appropriate to throw her a Rock 'N' Roll Garage Band 2nd birthday party!
INVITES: We sent out "mock" concert tix (pretty easy to do in Photoshop) and the kiddies were encouraged to dress as if they were going to a rock show- think fringe, studs and leather.
DECOR: Black with red and neon accents was the palate we chose - it seemed pretty hard- core ;) We went a little nuts with the Squealer font (almost identical to the AC/DC one) which we put it on the tags for food, posters and place settings. We made very good use of the * key which actually makes the lighting bolt symbol!
FOOD: We just moved to KS from Brooklyn, so we wanted to shout out to our 2 fave bakeries, Baked and Momofuku Milk Bar. We did treats from both the cookbooks: Pumpkin "Whoop Whoop Whoopie Pies" and these crazy "Choco Marshmallow Cornflake Cookies". The cake was a Chocolate Blackout with Cream Cheese Frosting with neon stars and glitter from the AMAZING Dolce Bakery here in KS. We also served "Rock 'N' Roll Ups", "Veggie Stix" and some other goodies, just in case someone wasn't crazy about the sweets.
ACTIVITIES: Lucy Bea became obsessed with temporary tattoos over the summer, so we set up a tattoo parlor and bought and made some of own with this awesome Silhouette temp tattoo paper.
We were also super inspired by Jason's Rock 'N' Roll bash posted on Ohdeedoh last year where they had a "mod your guitar" station, also seen on the blog, Warm Hot Chocolate. The speakers they did for that party were adorable too so we did them as well!
The kids spent most of their time doing drum solos, strumming guitars and shaking tambourines. Having the party in the garage vs. the living room was probably the smartest thing we could've done (from the perspective of an adult with sensitive ears - i.e. Great Grandma).
Party favors were a CD of Lu's favorite songs, the colored-on guitars, more tattoos and a little paper bag with "Nerds" candy inside (hint: maybe the theme for next year's party?!")
Thanks Jennie, Frank and Lucy! Readers, see more photos of Lucy's bash here.
