While a blank canvas can certainly be invigorating, so to can it be overwhelming. Where does one even start when faced with an empty, all-white bedroom with wall-to-wall carpeting? Or perhaps more importantly... how does one finish? If you're the creative couple behind the inspiring blog Studio DIY, the process from blank canvas to beautiful finished result is long but ultimately worth it!
It's clear from the before photos that Kelly and Jeff Mindell's 200-square-foot master bedroom has good bones and lots of natural light, but as Kelly writes in their bedroom reveal post: "This room was probably the most disgusting in the house when we bought it, covered in stained carpet, with a weird kitchenette off the back..."
The couple's goal for the bedroom was pretty simple: "I wanted the room to be light, bright and relaxing so we focused on lots of whites and neutrals with only one 'pop' of color, varying shades of soft peaches and pinks," Kelly writes.
Though they've owned this new house for a year, the bedroom decorating project wasn't a fast process; the couple reports that they took their time working on each room, one at a time, and really waited for the right pieces to complete the bedroom. You can find a full resource list on their reveal post. [Disclaimer: In exchange for promotion on their blog and social accounts, they received Room & Board furniture, Kip & Co. pillows/bedding, and the gallery wall from Framebridge. They did not receive free goods in exchange for promotion on Apartment Therapy—I just think it's a great space to share!]
Something the couple splurged on—and from these pictures that seems like is worth blowing a budget on—is a Samsung Frame TV. "This TV is my prized possession and literally worth every penny, in my opinion. Say what you want about TVs in the bedroom, but we love TV and it's how we unwind so it was non-negotiable. The fact that this one looks like an art piece when it's off is UNREAL. I don't think I'll ever be able to have a regular TV again."
Can you tell which is the TV? It's the big Moroccan print above!
Staying true to their website's name, the couple behind Studio DIY made DIY elements for their new master bedroom, like the fringe wall hanging below.
Thank you Kelly and Jeff! See more of their reveal on their website.
