Clean Up Your Life with David Allen's Getting Things Done

It's a new year, and it's time to get your life back. You keep losing time to keeping up on email, forget important tasks all the time and never seem to get those projects done the way you want to. This was my story just a few years ago, and after reading a book and making some adjustments in my life, I finally was able to tame those monsters. The book? Well that should be fairly evident at this point, right?

The book is David Allen's Getting Things Done, and a friend of mine recommended it to me after hearing my complaints of losing time on projects. Although the book contains some things that seem like common sense, a few of the rules really stuck with me and as a result, I'm able to, well, get things done.

Since then I let my wife read the book and that helped her out tremendously, then she gave it to her boss for Christmas and I gave it to a friend of mine as well. Ultimately, getting yourself organized is the gift that keeps on giving.

As a side note, you don't have to use software to use the system, but I do. It's pricey, but OmniFocus for the Mac, iPad and iPhone have come together to really get me organized no matter where I am. It may be a power user tool, but I love it, and it's even recommended by David Allen himself!
