Henry's Balanced 'Lagom' Nursery

Henry's Balanced 'Lagom' Nursery

Name: Henry
Location: Ballard neighborhood, Seattle, Washington

Before my husband and I even found out that our little one was a boy, I had a very clear picture in my head of how I wanted the nursery to look. Gender neutral in case we end up having two kids sharing this room down the road, a little Scandinavian and a little Seattle, clean and modern with lots of graphic black and white and room for bright colors to be added in, too.

The room is small, but the tall ceilings help open it up and we managed to fit what we need. I've long been influenced by my family's Swedish heritage, a trip we took there and the spaces I see in Scandinavian and design blogs. I find inspiration in the Swedes' mantra of 'lagom', which means basically not too much and not too little: so just the right amount.

I had fun making a few things handmade, too, like the cloud/raindrop mobile and mountain cushion. Awaiting a handmade quilt from my mom as well. My husband and I both find the space really calming and happy and hope that Henry will too, once he arrives!

We're so excited to welcome him here and can't wait to settle into the rocking chair with him to snuggle up and read lots of great books.
