Whether Talking or Listening, These Headphones Offer Users Total Control

Are you prone to switching between listening to music and answering phone calls on your phone. In-ear earbuds and over-ear headphones are aplenty, but models with wired-remote controls with access to play, pause, volume, and a built-in mic are ideal for the switch between talking and listening, like these three models below...

First up, and the most affordable ($79.99) are the Logitec Ultimate Ears 500vi in-ear phones. These simple stereo earbuds offer passive noise isolation and come with 5 different size silicone inserts for a good fit. The general consensus is that these offer clear sound while also having somewhat of enhanced bass. As with all in-ears, the seal achieved in the ear canal will determine how much bass is perceived. An in-line remote on the earbud cable allows for play, pause and volume control of iPhone. While the built-in mic will work with most smartphones the other controls may not.

Second up, the Etymotic HF3 retail for $179.00 and also provide in-ear passive noise isolation. The wired remote includes a mic, play/pause button, and a volume buttons. Having owned a pair of their in-ears, I can certainly verify that clarity and distortion free sound are trademarks of the Etymotic brand. Achieving a snug fit is made easier with an included assortment of earbud tips. If you are looking for a in-ear headphone that provides excellent clarity for speech as well as music, then the Etymotics should be auditioned.

And finally, for that subtle luxury in phones...This year at CES, Sennheiser unveiled the Momentum headphones ($349.95). I briefly demoed these and can verify the comfort and the sound was great with the pop selections they had playing These sexy headphones feature an ovular ear pad that fit ergonomically around the ear. The soft sheepskin leather cradles your ears and the headband for a luxurious look and feel. They made sure to include full control of volume, and play/pause while also including a quality mic for making and receiving phone calls.

These three headphone options for smartphones will boost your sound fidelity while also providing everyday functionality. Although these phones are fully iPhone compatible, some other smartphones may only provide limited functionality - such as the mic only in some cases. What headphones or in-ears are you using with your current smartphone?
