Personality Hotels Kids' Rooms

Home on the road. Hotels have slowly been catching on that families and children have different needs and wants than the average traveler and many have begun offering family suites and kids' rooms. Personality Hotels Group owner Yvonne Lembi-Detert is upping the ante with bright, modern kids suites that feel like home, without the laundry and dishes.

A boutique hotel chain in San Francisco, three of the Personality Hotels offer rooms designed with kids in mind. The photo above is at the Hotel Union Square where kids have their own check-in and receive Ghiradelli chocolates and two free cable car passes. The suite has room for four adults and two children and starts at $189/night.

The color-filled Kids Suite at the Hotel Metropolis has bunk beds, a Mac computer, a chalkboard and lots of toys. It's big enough for six adults and three kids. Rates start at $369/night.

The Little Divas Suite at Hotel Diva celebrates famous child performers and offers several creative outlets for kids who like to ham it up including a karaoke machine, cd player, tambourines and a dress-up box. When their energy subsides, kids can check out a flick on the flat-screen tv.

We hope fun, thoughtful hotel design for kids will be embraced by more hoteliers and that this trend is just getting started. Have you come across great kid-friendly hotel design in your travels?
