What I Love About My Small Home:
I love the original hardwood floors and moldings, they add great character and often make me feel that I'm living on an old ship. I also enjoy having the high ceilings and tons of wall space for my art collection. The ultimate feature however, is the porcelain clawfoot tub, it was what really sold me on the apartment in the first place.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Create zones. If you're like me who lives and works in your home, making zones is essential for reaching a comfortable balance.

Get modular, get multifunctional. Choose furniture that has a strong purpose (or rather multi-purpose), that can still be moved around or placed in other areas of the space. I'm always going to vintage shops and flea markets to get ideas for how to layout my apartment and what pieces will work. A white tulip table has been on my wish list to double as a workspace and for eating/entertaining friends.

Living in a small space teaches you to go without certain items. I live with an excess of photography and design equipment, art, and music (the vinyl kind). I vowed never to skimp on those in my life. Instead, I learned how to live without large collections of other things--clothes and shoes--gasp! You'll be surprised to discover that you start to value quality over quantity more so than ever before.
