OOOMS' Rebellious Cabinet: When One Door Closes…

OOOMS' Rebellious Cabinet: When One Door Closes…

Anyone who revels in the inherent spirit of a new year, the simultaneous sense of closure and a new start, will appreciate the poetic design of OOOMS' Rebellious Cabinet— a piece intended to make literal those yearly, philosophical musings about the nature of beginnings and endings.

With its usual sense of style, wit and proclivity towards natural-based products, Dutch design studio OOOMS has created an oak cabinet whose drawers never totally close. When you attempt to shut a single drawer, the one beside it partially opens. Alternatively, to open any specific drawer, you must venture to close an adjacent one; the company recommends doing so by pushing, hitting or kicking.

The choice, however, is yours: You can prod one section open by approaching the closure of another beside it by kicking and screaming to get it shut or you can close the door you no longer need with firm but loving intention.
