Recycling In The Boudoir: Sheets into Pillows

Recycling In The Boudoir: Sheets into Pillows

In my opinion, worn-in sheets are one of the world's most perfect substances. Everything should be made out of worn-in sheets, and they should never be allowed to go to waste. Artist Tom Scott shreds old sheets and knits them into pillowcases, and I think you should, too.

I should, too, of course, but I still haven't learned to knit, or re-learned Spanish — what have I been doing with my time? If you're a knitter rather than just a dreamer, I suggest you throw those beloved-but-beyond-using sheets in the wash one final time, then get to rippin' and knittin'. You probably already have an appropriate pattern at the ready, but Knitting Pattern Central has tons of knit pillow patterns if you don't.

You could also use your sheet-strips to make a cozy bedroom rug- there are tutorials for sheet rag rugs at Creative Jewish Mom and Noble Knits.

Tom Scott's pillow, featured in AnOther Loves, is no longer available through PROJECT No. 8 — but I'm sure yours will turn out even lovelier.
