For those of us without cars or who have trouble with heavy lifting, the hassle of getting stuff into a storage unit can far outweigh the convenience of it. If you're in the DC area, you have a new alternative in CityStash. Use the containers provided by CityStash to load up your old stuff and they'll take it to a climate controlled storage facility. They'll even pick up furniture!

The concept of CityStash is so easy it's one of those "why-hasn't-anyone-already-done-this?" ideas. To get started, you register at the CityStash website and order containers or specify the size of furniture you'd like stored. Then, CityStash delivers your containers and supplies. While you're packing up the items you'd like stored, you can create an online inventory in your account - this will make retrieving your boxes easier. Once you're all packed up, schedule a time for pick-up. All of your items will be transported and stored in the climate controlled storage facility. To retrieve your items, schedule a delivery time online. There is a $35 delivery fee for each retrieval.

Since you can pay by the box, this is a great solution for those who don't have enough to fill an entire storage unit. And for the carless, you can't beat the convenience of having your items picked up from your house.
