What I Love About My Small Home:
There are three things that I love:

The views: I can see the downtown SF, SOMA, Bay Bridge, and Mission from the two sets of bay windows. Every night, as I lay in bed, dim the lights, and look out the window, it reminds me that I am in San Francisco.
The light: I love that there are so many windows in unexpected places: in the long hallway, in the bathroom, and even one in the walk in closet. The place is bathed with natural light all day.

The vintage details: Ok, I admit, the kitchen really needs an update, but I really enjoy looking at the original glass paneled french doors, coved ceilings, and original ceiling light fixtures. Even if I decides to renovate kitchen and bath later, I'll continue to keep the vintage touch.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
1. Buy second hand. Second hand furniture has more character, and will make your place more interesting. I love second hand furniture so much, I founded an mobile app called "Trove" for buying and selling nearby you using your smart phone (check out

2. Keep to the essentials. I wanted three key things: 60" TV (for my video games), big distressed leather sofa, and king size bed. With these three big items, I feel like I can still live big in a small place. Things I eliminated: side tables, night stands, and table lamps (only floor lamps are used for bedside and desk).

3. Use fold away furniture and multi-purpose furniture (Cliche but true). I have a large dinning table which i can fold away and slide into the hall closet. When guests come, the George Nelson bench changes its purpose from coffee table to seating for 3. With the sofa and two chairs, I can host a dinner party for 8 people.
